The scholarships of Buddhist studies are open to the public and aim to support students who are enrolled or considering enrolling in a programme Buddhist studies. Khyentse Foundation scholarships are awarded for one-year terms. Scholarship holders may apply each year for continued support for longer-term studies.

Scholarship amounts depend on the scope of the proposal. Full funding of proposals is not always possible and a funding A partial scholarship may be offered to certain candidates. KF is able to offer scholarships thanks to the generosity of its donors. Please keep this in mind and only ask for what you need for your Dharma activity.

  • Buddhist scholarships are generally in the range of 500 $ to 5,000 $ US. Prices may be higher depending on the proposal.
Eligibility criteria
  • KF welcomes applications from students, practitioners and scholars of all disciplines. traditionsBuddhist schools and sects. These scholarships fund tuition fees or other study-related expenses. Applicants for this scholarship are generally working towards a BA, MA or MPhil degree, or are following a certificate programme.
  • Students applying for funding to attend the Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) in Nepal must apply directly to RYI. KF provides RYI with an annual grant to be used for financial assistance to ordained sangha, lay students and alternation participants.
Ineligibility criteria
  • Your application will not be considered if :
    • Your application is written by AI. They want to know more about you and your aspirations, practice and education. Please do not use OpenAI, ChatGPT or any other AI program to write your application. If they suspect your essays are written by AI, your application will be rejected. A sincere application means more than a well-written one.
    • Your request is not related to Buddhism or Buddhist activity.
    • You have already applied for a scholarship or grant as part of this cycle.
    • You are applying for doctoral support. Doctoral candidates must complete the doctoral grant application form.
