Price information
- The winner of this competition will receive the David Charles Horn Prize of 10,000 $, the publication of his manuscript by Yale University Press and a celebratory event.
- Price and publication are subject to the playwright's acceptance of the terms of the agreement publishing.
Conditions
- This competition is limited to pieces written in English. Submissions from all over the world are accepted.
- Submissions must be original unpublished pieces, with a minimum of 65 pages. Pieces shorter than 65 pages will not be considered.
- Translations, adaptations, musicals and children's plays are not accepted.
- The Yale Drama Series is designed to support emerging playwrights. Playwrights can only win the competition once.
- The playwrights may submit only one manuscript per year. Only manuscripts written by a playwright are eligible.
- Plays that have been produced or published by professionals are not eligible. Plays that have been the subject of a workshop, a reading or a non-professional production or that have been published in an actor's edition will be considered.
- The parts may not be the subject of an option, an order or a production or an publication at the time of submission.
- Entries must be typed/processed and numbered on the page. Image sets are not accepted.
- The Yale Drama Series reserves the right to reject any manuscript for any reason.
- The Yale Drama Series reserves the right of the judge not to select a winner in any given year of the contest and reserves the right to determine the ineligibility of a winner, in accordance with the spirit of the contest and based on the author's accomplishments.
