Association Burkinabè de Fundraising

"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".
Thomas SANKARA

Courses Ashinaga Initiative for Africa

The programme has three stages:

  • Study camp and preparation camp :Ashinaga will select students from each sub-Saharan African country to participate in a study camp in Uganda or Senegal from July to December 2022, subject to confirmation given the ongoing disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic. English-speaking students will normally attend the camp in Uganda, while French-speaking students will attend the camp in Senegal. During the study camp, students are assisted in their academic preparation, university applications (in Japan, the UK, the US or Europe), career planning and leadership development. After completing the study camp, students will move on to a second camp called the preparation camp. This takes place between April and June 2023, although the dates are subject to confirmation. Students come together to prepare for the social, cultural and academic differences they will experience abroad. Students will then go to university in August or September 2023. All costs for both camps are fully covered by Ashinaga. Students wishing to join the Japanese language pathway, in which they study the Japanese language at a university in Japan, will follow a similar timetable, however, they will focus on intensive Japanese language learning throughout the Study Camp. After the Study Camp, they will go to Japan to spend one or two years at a language school before starting their university studies. • During university: The AAI helps students access full financial support to study abroad. The support covers the first possible qualification that can be obtained, and the costs of a foundation or preparatory course will also be covered if necessary. Ashinaga has regional offices to support students during their studies in Japan, the UK, the USA, France and Brazil. Fellows will participate in a mandatory internship in their home country or in sub-Saharan Africa and join Ashinaga's leadership development programmes. The AAI does not accept applications from students wishing to study for a second degree or a master's degree.
  • After graduation: the Fellows are expected to return to their country of origin or to sub-Saharan Africa within four years of graduation and to contribute to the country/region while living there for at least one year. They should contact Ashinaga during this period to provide information about their activity and residence.
