"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

  • Diversity Awards
    • To seek out culturally relevant and inclusive stories that highlight the wide range of human backgrounds and experiences. Ultimately, these stories will enable them to develop a library as rich and varied as humanity itself.
  • Difficult subjects: You're not alone
    • Stories are friends, security blankets and mentors, especially when they're not afraid of difficult subjects and situations. The purpose of this category of competition is to do more than generate books - it's to be there for the vast readership and their myriad experiences, especially those in which they are most likely to feel lost and alone.
  • For teenagers By teenagers
    • They're looking for writers aged 18 and under to bring their unique voices to their growing library. They want young writers to search the corners of their minds for stories they'd like to read, so they can bring those tales to the page for their peers.
  • Cultural links
    • Throughout history, stories have helped them connect and understand each other. They have been the windows to the big, big world around them. Entries for this category will focus on specific cultures around the world, from festivals and holidays, to folklore, family stories, and more. They want readers to see life as it is lived in the four corners of the globe.
