The Ateliers de Grand-Bassam have launched a call for projects aimed at all authors on the African continent.

The next edition of the Ouaga Film Lab will take place from 15 to 22 September 2024 in Grand-Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire, under the name "Les Ateliers de Grand-Bassam". The Lab will provide an inspiring environment for storytelling, author support and project development. cinematographic high quality.

A total of 10 projects will be selected to take part in this event. experience development and support. Participants (directors and producers) will have the opportunity to benefit from personalised mentoring and feedback from industry experts in order to fine-tune their projects and prepare them for production.

At the end of the Lab, the best projects will be rewarded with residency grants to support creativity and innovation.

Objectives

• The main objective of the development and co-production programme of the Ateliers de Grand-Bassam is to strengthen the competitiveness of African directors and producers so that they can travel to various major international laboratories and take part in international residencies, local financing, international co-productions and their close collaboration with established mentors on the continent.
• The Ateliers de Grand-Bassam present a selection of film projects and offer those selected (teams of directors and producers) the opportunity to develop their projects, learn about presentation techniques and make contact with potential partners, in order to facilitate the financing of their projects.

Eligible projects

• Eligible projects must be :
  • Feature films (over 60 min)
  • Series comprising at least 3 episodes, fiction or documentary. The total duration of the 3 episodes must be at least 60 minutes.

Eligibility criteria

• The Ateliers de Grand-Bassam are open to film projects from all over Africa:
  • All projects must be submitted by a director and a producer.
  • The director and the producer can be two different people
  • The director must be from an African country
  • The producer must be from an African country
• The Ateliers de Grand-Bassam intend to select 10 projects and invite 20 participants (10 directors and 10 producers) for the residential phase in Grand-Bassam. These project leaders will be put in touch with mentors and consultants with whom they will work before, during and after the Lab.
• Applications must be submitted in French or English.
• Each applicant (director or producer) may submit a maximum of 2 projects.
