In situ is a programme a multidisciplinary residency programme designed to be both a time and a place for meetings, collective work and individual research, at the very heart of the Cité internationale des arts, but also a place for the production of knowledge and work themes around living conditions.
It brings together a dozen artists from the fields of visual arts and performance, music and sound research, the performing arts, design, writing, architecture and art. town planningThe programme focuses on a collective and individual approach to ecological conditions of existence that take account of the reality of a changing world and invent, explore and experiment with possible modes of action. In 2024, the focus of the programme is proposed by María Inés Rodríguez, director of Tropical Papers.
During the six months of the residency, the programme will be punctuated by different formats, including collective work sessions devised by the programme's guest, as well as work sessions focused on supporting individual practice. At the end of the residency, the recipients and María Inés Rodríguez will give a public presentation in the form they have chosen.
In situ offers a balance between personal time, enabling the completion of a project or research, and collective emulation thanks to the anchoring at the heart of the community of 325 residents from all disciplines, generations and nationalities.
The Residence
- The residency programme includes :
- Professional support, meetings and networking opportunities, including visits to exhibitions and meetings with personalities from various disciplines;
- The provision of an inhabited studio, as well as a communal space dedicated to collective reflection on the programme, on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts from 03 October 2024 to 27 March 2025;
- A monthly allowance of 1000 euros ;
- A €2,000 research and production grant;
- Reimbursement of transport costs from the place of residence to the Cité internationale des arts.
Eligibility criteria
- The residence is open to artists with an artistic practice in the fields of visual arts and performance, music and sound research, performing arts, design, writing, architecture and urban planning, curating and art criticism, and whose work and research are linked to the theme of the residency programme.
- It is open to candidates of all nationalities residing within the European Union who are able to express themselves and interact in English.
- The requests group (duo, couple, collective) are accepted and will result in the allocation of a single accommodation studio, a single monthly allowance, a single production grant and a single payment of transport costs.
- In addition to assessing the professional background of the applicants, the members of the jury will pay particular attention to the artistic quality of the project and the arguments presented on the added value of the prospect of a residency in Paris, within the Cité internationale des arts and with the support provided within the framework and dynamics of the programme.
- In situ is aimed at artists who are concerned with issues related to the programming theme and who are keen to make them visible.
