The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is pleased to announce the Africa 2021 Regional Journalism Workshops which aim to focus on equipping African journalists with relevant resources, tools and knowledge covering existing and new challenges, such as COVID-19 and misinformation.


Regional Journalism Workshops in Africa 2021. Visit programme also aims to establish professional links sustainable between African and American journalists, rooted in a shared understanding and appreciation of the role of responsible journalism in promoting democracy. Participants are encouraged to use this programme as an opportunity to expand their networks, engage in learning valuable skills and acquire useful resources.
Sessions will cover topics relevant to journalists at different levels of experience, including ethical reporting, investigative journalism, mobile journalism and media entrepreneurship, helping participants to improve their journalistic work and navigate the ever-changing news landscape.
Benefits
  • Participants will gain a better understanding of how to identify and report newsworthy events to inform constructive public discourse, the fundamentals of investigative reporting and how digital and traditional newsrooms in the US are experimenting with new business models for the digital age and diversifying revenue streams to sustain their operations.
  • Participants may also be invited to submit articles to IJNet on the new skills and best practices covered during the course. After the course, participants will be encouraged to contextualise their newly honed skills for use in their day-to-day work.

  • This programme aims to help African journalists improve their work and create lasting professional ties between African and American journalists rooted in a shared understanding and appreciation of the role of responsible journalism in promoting democracy.
