- Scholarships of USD 5,000 each are awarded to two scientistsThese are just a few of the many innovative African educators.
Eligibility criteria
- Full-time scientists, specialists in the outreach or educators working in an African institution NARES (National Agricultural Research and Extension System), a university, a non-profit organisation or in the private sector are eligible. Students are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Applicants should submit a creative plan to fill gaps in knowledge or synthesise existing information to accelerate the delivery and adoption of best soil fertility management practices in Africa. Of particular interest is ongoing research that aligns with at least one of APNI's high priority initiatives, including: nutrient management 4B, nutrient and water management innovations for resilient agriculture for African drylands, the management and nutrient diagnostics for soil health, precision farming and farmer-led on-farm innovation.
- Evidence of partnerships and collaboration will be favourably considered. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- To complete the application process, you will need to submit the following documents in English or French:
- A description of how the grant will lead to improved awareness or implementation of appropriate soil fertility management in farming systems. It will describe any new initiatives, data synthesis, tools for communicationInclude sufficient details to allow the originality of the work, its innovative approaches and its potential impact to be assessed. - Electronic copy of two letters of support, one of which must be from the candidate's supervisor. The letters must be signed and written on official letterhead and include the author's telephone number and e-mail address.
- A curriculum vitae including university degrees and relevant publications/communication products dealing with aspects of soil fertility management.
- A brief report on how the funds have been used to support the outcomes of the proposal will be required at the end of the grant period.
