The Global Peace Photo Award recognises and promotes photographers from around the world whose photos capture human efforts to build a peaceful world and the quest for beauty and goodness in people's lives.

The prize is awarded to the photographs that best express the idea that the future lies in peaceful coexistence.
The Global Peace Photo Award is presented by Edition Lammerhuber in partnership with Photographische Gesellschaft (PHG), UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, the Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, the International Press Institute (IPI), the German Youth Photography Prize, the World Press Photo Foundation, POY LATAM and LensCulture, APA - Austria Presse Agentur, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh) e.V. and Vienna Insurance Group.
Stories
- At least 5 photographs that share a theme or concept and a title. Your work will be judged as a whole, not as individual photographic entries. A story can contain up to 12 photos.
Price information
- For the first time in 2025, there will be a total of €11,000 in cash prizes to be won in the 6 categories!
- The Peace Image of the Year will be awarded a cash prize of €7,000. It will be exhibited at the Austrian Parliament for one year and will form part of the collection permanent art collection of the Austrian Parliament.
- 3 winners in the Stories category will each receive €1,000
- 1 winner in the photo individual receives €1,000
- 1 Childen Peace Image of the Year receives €1,000
- All the winning works will receive the Alfred Fried Peace Medal and the photographers will be invited to the award ceremony in Vienna in September 2024, with travel and accommodation costs covered. The photographs will be exhibited at the Austrian Parliament for one year.
- All images submitted have the chance to take part in the exhibitions international.
Eligibility criteria
- The Global Peace Photo Award is open to photographers from all over the world.
- Digital submissions must be saved as .jpg, with more than 3000 pixels on the longest side. Images must not contain embedded brands, logos, names or borders.
- Photographs that are part of a report on a subject must not be manipulated in a way that changes the meaning of the image. For other entries, they accept images digitally edited images and photo montages if they are used to explore a theme in a creative way. All digitally edited images must clearly indicate what has been done to them in the legends that accompany the images.
- The Global Peace Photo Award is a photo prize. The jury reserves the right to exclude AI-generated images from the competition.
