"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

The Echoing Green is pleased to announce the 2022 Fellowship to help build and shift power in their communities, advance inclusive and intersectional solutions, and fuel radical leaps of imagination that transform systems and fuel social movements.

This bursary is aimed at people whose businesses are at an early stage and who are experts in the challenge they have chosen to tackle. They are looking forLamien leaders who reflect the community that they serve and bring an in-depth knowledge of the issues to their work while devising solutions with and for their communities.
Echoing Green supports bold leaders around the world who see possibilities in today's most existential challenges. Together, they live to build a world that doesn't yet exist: a future without racism and its long-term consequences, where everyone can flourish.
Guiding principles Helping to build and shift power in communities
The Echoing Green community is multi-generational, multi-racial, geographically diverse and cross-class. Through collective action and a multi-sectoral approach, they believe they can make faster progress towards dismantling oppressive systems around the world. The following principles guide the work.
Echoing Green helps managers to :
  • Build and move power. They support close leaders who disrupt the status quo by changing power dynamics. The best innovators use their clear understanding of the problem to develop the sharpest solutions. They look for leaders who show how their idea will transfer power to the people most affected by their company's results.
  • Intersectional approaches to resources. Trying to understand inequality through a single identity can lead to a misunderstanding of its impact and exclude people from solutions.
  • Fuelling the radical imagination. The community is inspired by the idea that, collectively, they can help build a world that hasn't yet existed - where everyone can flourish. Radical leaps of imagination can fuel social movements and transformational change.
