OCADES Caritas Burkina was born of a desire on the part of the Bishops of Burkina Faso to adapt their instrument of social pastoral care to the challenges of the local and international environment, and to the values and principles of the Church Family of God's commitment to development and solidarity in Burkina Faso. It is involved in human, spiritual, political, economic, social and cultural capital in order to work towards greater well-being and dignity for the human person. OCADES Caritas Burkina is apolitical and non-profit-making.

OCADES Caritas Burkina is a technical instrument for implementing the social pastoral work of the Family of God Church in Burkina Faso. It is a national network represented in all 15 dioceses of Burkina Faso and is responsible for animating and accompanying human communities in Integral Human Development (IHD).

The dioceses of Burkina Faso are ex officio members of OCADES Caritas Burkina. The diocesan entities and the General Secretariat of OCADES Caritas Burkina enjoy autonomy and act by delegation, according to the principle of subsidiarity.

Fund-raising activities for the Solidarity Tombola

As part of its support for internally displaced persons (IDPs), victims of the terrorist attacks, OCADES Caritas Dédougou / Burkina Faso organised a TOMBOLA called Tombola de la solidarité aux PDI. The tombola is one of a series of activities (tombola, shopping street, direct solicitations) aimed at raising 50 million euros to support displaced people in areas badly hit by the terrorist attacks.
For more than 5 years, the country of honest men has been prey to violent attacks by unidentified armed men. These violent attacks have caused the death of thousands of citizens and the displacement of several populations. This growing wave of displaced people is in constant need of water, food, shelter and above all moral support, especially children who have lost their loved ones.
The raffle enabled 500 internally displaced children to be helped with their school enrolment and schooling. It ran from 10 February to 08 March 2022.
The draw for the raffle took place on Saturday 12 March 2022. The draw took place on the premises of OCADES Dédougou. A total of 24,000 participants, including 29 people, were lucky enough to go home with prizes on Tuesday 15 March 2022 in Dédougou. The winners received ten solar lamps, five smartphones, ten educational tablets, two laptops and two motorbikes.
This activity raised the sum of 30 million. But for the executive secretary of OCADES Dédougou, Abbé André Toé, the tree must not hide the forest, because 20 million still needs to be raised. "We're in the process of reaching our target, because it's not over yet. Direct requests are continuing", he added.
