Association Burkinabè de Fundraising

"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

The SUN Movement has successfully brought together governments, UN agencies, businesses, donors, civil society organisations and individuals in a collective mission in 65 countries and 4 Indian states to defend the right to good food and nutrition. It has also helped to highlight the importance of nutrition in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SUN Movement continues to work with countries in the belief that nutrition is both a driver and a marker of development. Improved nutrition is the platform for progress in health, education, employment, the empowerment of women and the reduction of poverty and inequality, and can lay the foundations for peaceful, secure and stable societies.

Objectives Movement to strengthen nutrition

The Common Fund is consistent with the management arrangements and processes of the SUN Movement at national and global levels. In particular, the Common Fund will support civil society organisations and alliances through actions that strengthen the national capacities of all stakeholders in SUN countries in four thematic areas:

  • Continuously improve countries' planning to put an end to malnutrition.
  • Mobilise, advocate and communicate to make an impact.
  • Build the capacity of governmental and non-governmental systems, multi-sectoral teams and their individual members, to strengthen nutritional action at all levels.
  • Ensuring fairness, equality and non-discrimination for all, with women and girls at the centre of all efforts.
