"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

In 2015, the WGC launched its first Gender-Just Climate Solutions Awards. These awards aim to showcase real solutions for a fairer, more equitable and healthier planet. Price details Gender Just Climate Prize

The initiatives will be examined by an international jury made up of members of the Women and Gender Constituency. Two levels of "winners" will be selected:

  • Three "winners" will be identified, one for each type of project. These three winners will each receive a Seed Grant of €2,000; travel for one representative to attend the awards ceremony held at the UNFCCC climate conferences (COP); and mentoring activities from members of the Women and Gender Constituency.
  • The "winners" are invited to a capacity-building workshop during the COPs with previous Gender Equitable Climate Solutions winners. The workshops are organised in collaboration with the Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) and include training in scaling up solutions, sharing experience and expertise, and networking.
  • Up to 30 additional "finalists" (winners) will be featured in a full-colour publication that will be presented at a high-level international awards ceremony during the COPs, as well as highlighted on the WGC website.
