"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

GIVING FOR CHANGE IN SAHEL: Dori hosts a training session for associations

The Dori head office of the Dagnal Roobè Association will be the scene of some lively activity over the next few days. The training courses are scheduled to take place over eleven days, with a few days in between. The starting signal was given on Tuesday 20 September 2022, with five associations each having mobilised two participants, making a total of ten participants who will be equipped to mobilise support and local resources. Giving For Change, the initiating organisation, has mobilised two trainers, Sadou Dicko and Boureima Duro Maïga, known as Bounty, to supervise the participants.

Five of them. Five associations from Arbinda, Dori and Gorom-Gorom converged on Dori to respond to the call from Giving For Change. Each association has brought two participants, with a strong emphasis on gender equity. The participants will have to learn how to mobilise support and local resources.

In fact, the overall objective of Giving For Change is to train participants on the basis of mobilising support and local resources, and this stems from the need for the effective involvement of all stakeholders in order for the project to be properly implemented and appropriated by the players involved. Specifically, the aim is to present the objectives, results and main activities of the Giving For Change project; to train participants in the basics of mobilising support; to train participants in the basics of mobilising local resources and to present the planning of the Giving For Change training trajectory for 2022.

To succeed in their tasks as trainers, Boureïma Duro Maïga dit Bounty and Sadou Dicko opted for exchanges and consultations divided into two phases, namely the presentation of the programme, followed by the presentation of the training modules on mobilising support and local resources, and then the question and answer phase.

According to Sadou Dicko, one of the trainers, this session will enable participants to learn more about mobilising support and local resources in order to boost endogenous development. "This will increase the knowledge of association members and make the process easier for them. We've noticed that many associations have their receipt but are limited in what they can do because they lack a certain amount of expertise". he added.

According to the participants, this initiative is welcome. Hama Ali Cissé is one of them. "This is a very welcome initiative, as it will provide us with the skills we need for our various associations. opined this representative of the Lemrè Association in Dori.

Samira Guira came from Gorom-Gorom on behalf of Action pour la Solidarité et le Développement. "In my association, we really need training of this kind because it will help us to mobilise support and local resources". she added.

The Giving For Change project is the result of collaboration between the Association Burkinabé de Fundraising (ABF), the Association Dagnal Roobè (ADR) of Gorom-Gorom and the Association Bena OSegui (ABOS) of Arbinda. However, it is the Association Dagnal Roobè (ADR) of Gorom-Gorom that is the consortium leader in the Sahel, with the support of the Association Bena OSegui (ABOS) of Arbinda.

As a reminder, it was in the Salle Polyvalente in Dori, on a certain Saturday 04 December 2021, that the Giving For Change project itself was officially launched, with the main aim of To "strengthen freedom of expression by amplifying the voices of communities demanding their rights from those in power".
