"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

Are you a youth organisation or association active in the field of water? Do you want to amplify your voice and contribute to a global movement for change? Are you a non-youth organisation that wants to further support youth for water? If so, apply for the World Youth Water Movement.

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is looking for a large and diverse group of youth and non-youth actors from around the world to champion the movement. All relevant links are listed below. You are invited to register your own organisations and nominate one (1) representative who will continue to follow the activities and discussions of the Movement via this link Global Youth Movement for Water Registration.

Mission and impact

The mission is to improve the recognition, role and impact of young people in triggering and supporting the societal transformation needed for a secure future for all.

The Movement aims to bring together any youth-led structure to pool all resources and thus increase its bargaining power with the clear intention of influencing decision making and stimulating concrete actions at all levels and in all relevant fields.

Therefore, the Movement must connect water and youth organisations to foster collaboration and synergies and increase the reach and impact of all actors in the sector, from local to global levels. It will give youth-led organisations more visibility, credibility and recognition to existing and emerging networks and organisations when engaging and supporting people who want to act.

Proposed mechanisms:
  • To improve the coordination and collaboration of local, regional and global water youth organisations through the community of practice;
  • Amplify the power of young people's voices;
  • Increase the financial and technical capacity of young water leaders;
Guiding principles
  • By young people, for young people and with young people.
  • Embracing diversity.
  • Stronger together.
Eligibility criteria
  • Youth organisations or associations active in the field of water that want to amplify their voice and contribute to a global movement for change
  • Non-youth organisations wishing to further support the global youth water movement by providing technical or financial support
  • Organisations that support and commit to the Movement's guiding principles
  • Important To help them achieve the goals and impact, GWP asks that only one representative from each organisation be part of the Movement. Individuals cannot apply to be part of the Movement.
  • If you are a young person looking for ways to get involved in the water space and do not yet have a connection with other young people in your country, GWP invites you to contact a youth organisation active in the Movement.
