Dell Technologies has launched its annual graduation project competition for undergraduate students from universities in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.

  • The winners of the competition will receive cash prizes as follows:
    • First place will receive a cash prize of 5,000 $
    • Second place will receive a cash prize of 4,000 $
    • The third place winner will receive a cash prize of 3,000 $
    • All members of the Top 10 team will receive certificates of recognition for their achievements.
    • They will offer an opportunity for mentoring by Dell experts for their finalist projects (which will move from the interim phase to the final phase).
    • An official awards ceremony will be held at one of Dell Technologies' major events in the region. All members of the winning team and their academic advisor(s) will be invited to attend the ceremony along with senior officials from their university or college.
Possibilities
  • This year, they are pleased to announce that they will be offering a mentoring opportunity for their finalist projects (which will move from the interim phase to the final phase).
    • Dell Mentoring is a time-limited relationship focused on supporting the growth and development of the mentee. The mentor becomes a source of wisdom, teaching and support, but not someone who observes and advises on specific actions or behavioural changes in day-to-day work. In general, mentoring offers incredibly valuable developmental support, high-level guidance for long-term development. More specifically, he/she
    • Provide mentoring and support in project planning throughout the final phase of the competition;
    • offer encouragement and support to try new things; help mentors get out of their comfort zone; celebrate successes; help mentees understand when things don't go as planned
    • Helps you see the destination but does not give you a detailed map to get there.
    • Offers encouragement and cheerleading, but no practical advice.

    • Act as an advisor, as explained above. The project has an advisor who is your university professor.
    • Tell the students how to do things.
    • Supporting students with short-term transactional problems.
    • Act as a counsellor or therapist.
  • Mentoring will begin directly after the results of the provisional design report. A mentor will be assigned to each finalist.
Eligibility criteria
  • Students wishing to take part must be in their final year and must be enrolled at any university in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.
  • Students should have a faculty member as a supervisor
  • Students should be non-government employees and full-time university students
  • The authenticity of the information provided by students must be validated by the head of their department.
  • Students must be listed in only one project
  • All communication between Dell Technologies and the project team will take place through the project's educational advisor and designated team leader.
  • Each competing team must consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 members. One of the team members must be chosen as team leader with the following responsibilities:
  • The originality and novelty of ideas are at the heart of their competition and one of the important pillars. Plagiarism - taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as your own - is unethical.
  • Copying substantial or basic material from work published by others may result in the disqualification of a project.
  • The project is tested at every stage.
