Association Burkinabè de Fundraising

"The most important thing, I think, is to have led people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that at last they can sit down and write about their development, write about their happiness and say what they want. And at the same time, to feel what the price is for happiness".

By publishing 100 photo stories of the very people who are the face of their climate emergency, they aim to raise awareness of the risks as well as the opportunities that accompany climate change and, in so doing, mobilise people around the world to take action to protect their planet for generations to come.

Benefits
  • 100 photo stories will be shortlisted and exhibited
  • 4 winners will be announced
  • 1,000 awarded to each winner
Eligibility criteria
  • They are inviting photographers of all abilities and ages from around the world to submit powerful and provocative photo essays that capture personal stories of the climate emergency - both of struggle and hope - to help mobilise people into urgent climate action.
  • Each submission must include a photographic portrait and an accompanying story of no more than 250 words focusing on one of the following main themes:
    • Faces of the Bold : These photo stories capture those on the frontline of climate change, working hard to make a difference - whether it's a scientist pushing the fields of technology to find a climate solution, a politician braving the wave of climate sceptics or an activist making his voice heard.
    • Faces of the Brave : These photo stories capture those who are in the eye of the storm, directly or indirectly affected by climate change - whether it's a forest fire victim, a shopkeeper hit by floods or a schoolchild struggling with increasing pollution.
    • Faces of the past, present and future: These photographic reports capture the voices of young people, who are often not heard in the mainstream but who will have to face up to the greatest impacts of climate change, and of older people, whose wisdom and life experience are often forgotten in the fight against climate change.
    • Faces of the Unheard : These photographic reports focus on the experiences of people from marginalised communities, seeking to dismantle and remedy environmental discrimination, and build a shared vision for a sustainable, cooperative and equitable future for all.
