Action for Nature is proud to honour the work of young people aged 8-16 from around the world who have completed creative environmental projects with a cash prize, a certificate of achievement and public recognition.
Price information
Winners receive a cash prize of up to 500 $, a special certificate of achievement, public recognition on our website and in the media, and exclusive access to their Eco Hero Facebook group.
Project requirements
- The project concerns environmental health, advocacy, research or protection of the natural world;
- The project is action-based and self-initiated, not a project assigned by a teacher or other adult;
- The project must last at least 6 months and be nearly completed or completed within the last year;
- If the project is an invention, certain tests must be completed before an application can be submitted;
- Applicants must be aged between 8 and 16 on 28 February of the year of application;
- Science fair and Scout badge projects will only be considered if they include environmental action, educational outreach to others or extended studies beyond the science fair and Scout badge;
- They do not accept (a) pet or confined animal projects, (b) compositions or reports;
- Previous winners, immediate relatives of AFN board members, active members of the reading committee or judges are not eligible to apply;
- Only applications in English are accepted.
